The main goal of our study is to design a new residential core with a set of
special features that will organize a community, whose residents interact both
with each other and with the natural environment. It was considered important
to promote co-ownership and interaction of the residents by creating the
common inner courtyard. The purpose is to create the appropriate
infrastructure that will serve the needs of the permanent residents of the
complex and the general upgrading of the area. There is a certain core or so-called "link". The core is a rectangular
element that houses the stairwell, mechanical facilities and bathrooms. He is
the same in all houses. The "containers" of the living spaces are "anchored" to
this link. The areas of the house: Bedrooms, living room, kitchen, dining room,
have been created from standard used containers. The combination of the
"containers" in number, but also in the placement in our core, gives us each
time a different type of casing, but also a different appearance even in the
same type. In addition, what gives great value to the way our houses are built is that
the two- and three-bedroom types have the opportunity to add "containers"
and therefore spaces in a very easy way and without much cost to the owner.
The containers are prefabricated and transported ready for installation without
affecting the daily operation of the unit. The complexes form a small community, where ideas about the
decongestion of urban space, nature, autonomy and individuality are
summarized. The central idea could be described as the creation of a semiautonomous community that lives collectively and privately within a larger
urban fabric. They can meet their nutritional needs by growing in communal
gardens. There are rainwater harvesting areas so that irrigation needs are
met by the reservoirs and not by the water supply network. Providing a set of
common functions across the various levels was our key premise for
promotion as well as encouragement for socialization. The location of the houses was largely determined by the topography, the
surrounding area and the orientation of the plot. Buildings are designed and
positioned to collect maximum sunlight when needed (winter) and avoid it
when not desired (summer). Planting plays a key role, acting as a light and air
filter that filters air and regulates light, while also giving a sense of coolness to
living spaces. Accordingly, deciduous and evergreen plants are selected so
that the greenery is preserved
